Disposal of Bulky Items, Garden Waste and Dead Pets

For private housing estates

1. Bulky items

(e.g. discarded tables, chairs, cupboards, mattresses, micro-wave ovens, gas cookers, refrigerators and washing machines)

For removal of bulky item(s) for disposal, please contact the public waste collector (PWC) serving your estate. The removal of bulky items will be at a separate fee.

Alternatively, you may engage any licensed waste collector to provide the removal service. The list of licensed waste collectors is available here.

2. Garden waste

(e.g. cut grass, leaves, branches)

Please note that a separate recycling collection service for garden waste has been implemented for residents residing in landed premises for all sectors. The garden waste will be collected at least once a week on designated days of the week and the collection frequency for each PWC sector is as shown here.

All grass and leaves should be collected in plastic bags and tied securely. Large branches which cannot be placed inside the plastic bag should be tied up in small bundles.

The plastic bags, together with the bundles of small branches, should be placed beside the recycling bin in front of your house in the morning of the scheduled day of garden waste collection.

3. Dead pets

(e.g. dogs, cats, hamsters, ornamental fish, birds)
 
Our waste-to-energy (WTE) plants are designed for the incineration of municipal solid waste, and not for the cremation of large animal carcasses such as dogs and cats.
 
Pet owners and businesses/organisations with animal carcasses should not bring the carcasses to the WTE plants for disposal but are to engage the services of commercial animal crematoria instead.
 
However, if they choose to do so, owners of smaller pets like ornamental fish, birds, hamsters, etc. may carefully wrap the carcasses and dispose of them together with their properly bagged general waste.
