Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Scheme for E-waste

A regulated e-waste management system, based on the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) approach, has commenced from 1 July 2021. Under the system, producers bear the responsibility for the collection and treatment of their products when they reach end-of-life. This EPR system has been implemented through the Resource Sustainability Act (RSA), administered by the NEA.

ALBA E-waste Smart Recycling Pte Ltd ("ALBA") has been appointed as the Producer Responsibility Scheme (PRS) Operator for a period of five years, from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2026 to collect regulated consumer electrical and electronic waste across Singapore for proper treatment and recycling on behalf of producers.

Where to Recycle:

  • E-waste recycling bins deployed by ALBA across Singapore in public areas such as town centres, shopping malls, government buildings, Residents’ Committee Centres, community centres, supermarkets and retail outlets
  • Retailer in-store collection service (via a bin or over-the-counter collection), which is open to the public to dispose of their e-waste1, with or without the purchase of any product or service from the retailer.
    1
Members of the public can deposit regulated ICT equipment, bulb/lamps and batteries of any brand or model at the e-waste recycling bins placed at retail outlets supplying products of the same type as the e-waste accepted by the bin.
  • E-waste collection drives held in residential areas on a quarterly basis for residents to drop off their e-waste (refer to ALBA's website or ALBA STEP UP mobile app for the schedule)
  • Free one-for-one takeback of unwanted regulated consumer product of the same type upon delivery by retailers (e.g. free takeback of unwanted washing machine upon delivery of a new one by the retailer)
