Zero Waste Manager Course

The Zero Waste Manager course supports businesses to build competencies in waste management and integrate 3Rs - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle - into organisational culture.

The objectives of the Zero Waste Manager course are to:

  • Encourage companies to formalise waste reduction responsibilities, and to appoint and train Zero Waste Managers to lead waste management and reduction efforts on their premises, especially those covered under the Mandatory Waste Reporting (MWR) scheme.
  • Support businesses in building waste management competencies

The course is designed to equip prospective Zero Waste Managers with the skills to (i) plan, implement and monitor 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) efforts to improve waste management outcomes in their premises, (ii) educate stakeholders on the 3Rs and integrate the 3Rs into organisational culture, and (iii) comply with regulatory requirements on waste management such as MWR requirements.

Target Audience

The course is targeted at middle managers who are involved, either full-time or with adjacent roles, in waste management of their premises.


Learning Outcomes

Through attending the course, participants will be able to gain a deeper understanding of waste management policies and regulations, and be equipped with skills to improve waste management outcomes.

The key topics of the course include:

  • Singapore’s waste management landscape and plans
  • Requirements under the Environmental Public Health and Resource Sustainability Act, including Mandatory Waste Reporting scheme
  • Implementing 3R programmes
  • Organisational communication skills
  • Relevant case studies and Mandatory Waste Reporting practice

Subsidies and support schemes 

Companies and individuals can tap on subsidies offered by SkillsFuture Singapore for the course.  

Companies can also tap on Workforce Singapore’s Career Conversion Programme for Sustainability Professionals (CCP-S), as part of their overall training to upskill/reskill their new hires or existing employees, in green areas of work aligned to their business needs. The ZWM course has been whitelisted as one of the CCP-S training options that companies can tap on.
