3R Programme for Hotels
The voluntary 3R Programme for Hotels was introduced on 1 July 2011
by the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA) and NEA for SHA member hotels,
and the participating hotels work with SHA and NEA to reduce waste
in the hotel industry.
Objectives
- Implement structured waste minimisation and recycling programmes in participating hotels
- Equip hotels with the knowledge and training to carry out the 3R Programme effectively
- Foster expertise and knowledge sharing within the hotel industry
SHA member hotels can contact the SHA secretariat at 6513 2033 or
secretariat@sha.org.sg to register as a participant of the 3R Programme for Hotels.
3R Awards for Hotels
The biennial 3R Awards for Hotels was launched in 2014 to recognise the participants of
the 3R Programme for Hotels who have performed well in solid waste management.
The 3R Awards for Hotels aim to:
- Recognise efforts by hotels to reduce, reuse and recycle waste, and
- Facilitate/Promote sharing of best practices to improve collective 3R efforts within the hotel industry
In 2016, 28 hotels were recognised for their 3R efforts, up from 25 hotels in 2014.
Three hotels received the Distinction Award for outstanding waste minimisation and
recycling practices, and 11 hotels received the Merit Award for commendable waste
minimisation and recycling practices.
