Smoking Prohibition Extension

Smoking Prohibition in Entertainment Outlets

From 1 July 2007, smoking is prohibited in entertainment outlets (e.g. pubs, bars, discotheques, lounges, KTV lounges, nightclubs, etc.) Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the premises including any outdoor refreshment area (ORA), except at approved smoking corner.

With effect from 30 June 2017, NEA has stopped accepting application for new smoking corners in ORA. Existing smoking corners in entertainment outlets can remain until the current licence is terminated or cancelled, or if there is a change in the operator.

However, the licensee of the premises may designate up to 10 per cent of the indoor refreshment area (IRA) as smoking room(s), provided it is fully enclosed and separately ventilated.
