National Definition of Hazardous Waste Received from Other Countries

The scope of the Basel Convention includes wastes that are defined as, or are considered to be, hazardous wastes by the domestic legislation of the Party of export, import or transit. Under Article 3 of the Basel Convention, Parties are to inform the Secretariat of the Convention of the wastes, other than those listed in Annexes I and II, considered or defined as hazardous under its national legislation and or any requirements concerning transboundary movement procedures applicable to such wastes.
