Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme (MELS)  

To help consumers make more informed purchasing decisions, NEA introduced the Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme (MELS), which requires suppliers of major energy-consuming household appliances to affix their products with energy labels. These labels carry information on the energy consumption and energy cost of the appliance model. Models that are more energy efficient have a higher rating.
