Wet weather prevailed over many parts of the ASEAN region today, except over the southern parts of Sumatra, Java and the Lesser Sunda Islands where it was relatively drier. Few to isolated hotspots were detected mainly in the southern parts of Sumatra, as well as Kalimantan. Moderate to dense smoke plumes were observed to emanate from hotspots detected in West and Central Kalimantan.

Weather And Haze Outlook

Over the next few days, showers are expected over most parts of the ASEAN region, except over the southern parts of Borneo, Java and the Lesser Sunda Islands where drier conditions are forecast. Isolated hotspots and smoke plumes may develop over fire- prone regions experiencing prolonged dry conditions. The prevailing winds over the southern ASEAN region are expected to blow mainly from the southeast to south. The prevailing winds over the northern ASEAN region are forecast to blow from the south to southwest.
