Singapore, 23 September 2019 – The National Environment Agency (NEA), Singapore, and the Department of Environment (DOE), Malaysia, together with several agencies, will be holding a biennial bilateral chemical spill emergency response exercise on Wednesday, 25 September 2019, at the Tuas Second Link from 6.00am to 2.00pm.

2          The exercise will simulate a chemical spill along the Tuas Second Link where a lorry and a truck are involved in a collision. Arising from the collision, chemicals being transported by the truck leaked onto the road. For this exercise, four chemical drums will be simulated to be damaged with some fumes released. The public is advised not to be alarmed.

3          Traffic diversion is expected during the date and time stated above and motorists are advised to closely follow the traffic marshals’ directions at the site.

4          Motorists are advised to avoid the Tuas Second Link when the exercise is ongoing to minimise any inconvenience caused. Motorists are advised to tune in to the Singapore radio stations for any traffic announcements.
