Update on Hotspot and Haze Situation

4.          Showers were observed over a few areas of Singapore this afternoon. As at 7pm, the 1-hr PM2.5 concentration readings were 30 – 79 μg/m3, in (Band 1, Normal / Band 2, Elevated), and the 24-hr PSI was 85 – 140, in the Moderate to Unhealthy range. While there were also showers in the surrounding areas, residual smoke haze from Kalimantan was observed to drift towards Singapore. Smoke haze was also observed in Sumatra.

5.          For tomorrow, some showers are expected over Singapore and the surrounding region. However, smoke haze from fires in Kalimantan may be transported towards Singapore as the winds are expected to blow from the east-southeast to southeast.

6.          Dry conditions are likely to persist over the southern parts of Kalimantan over the next few days. Under prevailing east-southeasterly to southeasterly winds, smoke haze may drift from fires in Kalimantan towards Singapore.

Activity Guidelines

7.         The health impact of haze is dependent on one’s health status, the PSI level, and the length and intensity of outdoor activity.
