The Energy Label

Consumer Advisory

Consumers must only purchase NEA-registered appliances found within NEA's Database of Registered Goods. We need the public's support to report any regulated goods that do not have the Energy Label or are not registered to NEA_energylabel@nea.gov.sg.

Consumers are strongly encouraged to look out for Energy Labels, which help consumers identify more energy efficient appliances when purchasing household air-conditioners, refrigerators, clothes dryers, television, or lamps, in any local physical shops or from online shopping platforms.

Registered suppliers supplying regulated goods must affix the Energy Label on the units that they supply in Singapore. The Energy Label shall be affixed only after the National Environment Agency (NEA) has issued the Certificate of Registration (COR) for the model. Retailers are only allowed to display models that have the label affixed on them.

Advertisement Requirements of Regulated Goods

Advertisement of regulated goods on physical and online publications, including advertisement on electronic marketplace such as online platforms shall comply with Part 2A of the Energy Conservation (Regulated Goods and Registered Suppliers) Regulations.

Companies or individuals who advertise regulated goods must ensure that:

The goods meet regulatory requirements. Companies or individuals must not advertise any regulated goods unless they comply with the applicable requirements under the Regulations.
Energy Label are displayed for Regulated goods in visual advertisements. For advertisement of regulated goods in visual format (such as printed materials, websites, electronic marketplace), a legible Energy Label must be displayed next to the image or description of the regulated goods. If it is not practical to display the Energy Label (such as space constraint on printed advertisement), the tick rating and registration number from the Certificate of Registration (COR) for the regulated goods must be prominently stated.

In situations where it is not practical to comply due to insufficient space for clear display of the Energy Label, particularly for print advertisement, the following information is required to be prominently stated next to the image/description in the advertisement:

(i) the tick rating of the regulated goods;

(ii) the Certificate of Registration (COR) or supplier code.

The number of ticks should be displayed sufficiently sized to be seen and read clearly, with or without the energy efficiency ratings descriptions. COR or supplier code should be clear and legible on the advertisement.

(1) Energy Efficiency Rating

The model's relative energy efficiency rating is also expressed in words:

(2) Ticks

The number of ticks shall conform to the Tick Rating System.

(3) Annual Energy Cost

Based on 27 cents per kWh electricity cost, 8 hours daily usage and 16 hours standby energy consumption

(6) Model

(11) Registration Number

A unique number found on the registered model's COR, which is issued by NEA upon successful registration of the model.

(12) QR Code

For water heater and CSR Energy Labels, QR code is link to Database of Registered Goods. For other regulated goods, the Energy Labels will be revised to a later date.

Printing Requirements

The Energy Label:

a) shall be of the dimensions, shape and colour shown in the Regulations;
b) shall contain information that is consistent with or drawn from the relevant test report;
c) shall contain text that is of the same font type and size as shown in the Regulations, legible and in the English language only;
d) shall be printed in an indelible manner and with a minimum resolution of 300 pixels per inch; and
e) shall be made of such material as the NEA may approve (e.g. Mirrorkote)

For split type air-conditioners, the Energy Label shall be affixed to the outdoor unit only. However, if only the indoor unit is displayed in the retail store, all relevant labels for all possible selections of outdoor units must be displayed prominently alongside the indoor unit.
