The event was held at Antwerp, Belgium, from 8 to 9 September 2015 in conjunction with the International Solid Waste Association World Congress 2015. Centred on the theme of ‘Environmental Protection and Waste Management’, the roundtable was attended by more than 30 international environmental regulators from 18 economies. At the launch of The Global Waste Management Outlook (GWMO) in Antwerp, Belgium, on 7 September 2015, NEA’s CEO Mr Ronnie Tay shared the journey Singapore took in transforming into a clean and green city. The GWMO is a publication offering the first-ever comprehensive overview of waste management around the world in the 21st century. The launch was attended by an audience of ministers and senior government officials from many different countries. NEA contributed both ideas and content for the GWMO. Four of the 70 case studies in The Outlook featured Singapore’s waste management approach in a single write-up entitled A Clean Land, A Clean Home, which profiles NEA’s integrated waste management system, Semakau Landfill, the National Recycling Programme and the Singapore Packaging Agreement. Clean Environment Regulators Roundtable The Global Waste Management Outlook Over the two days of the roundtable, the regulators engaged in rigorous discussion to identify priority areas in pollution and waste management. Discussion topics included waste management and treatment, disposal solutions and air and wastewater pollution control measures. The outcomes from this two-day roundtable were discussed further at the Clean Environment Regulators Roundtable scheduled for 12 to 13 July 2016. 92 To support NEA in championing sustainable waste management, SEI tailors learning programmes for regional waste practitioners that focus on sustainable waste management.
