This would cover concerns such as flooding and the monitoring of rainfall over Johor, one of Singapore’s key sources of water. This culminated in the signing of a service agreement where a wider MSS team would support PUB’s operations. Collaborating with PUB in extreme weather warning and water resource management Regional workshop on climate change To support international efforts to combat climate change, NEA jointly organised a Southeast Asia Network of Climate Change Offices workshop with the United Nations Environment Programme and the National Climate Change Secretariat. Held in Singapore from 14 to 15 October 2015, the workshop titled Enhancing Climate Action Through Innovative Market-based Mechanisms And Mobilising Private Sector Financing examined favourable environments for mobilising private financing in climate mitigation and adaptation in ASEAN member states. Fifty officials attended the workshop, including delegates from ASEAN member countries as well as experts from the United Nations Environment Programme, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and World Bank. NEA ANNUAL REPORT 2015 / 2016 76 WORKING WITH OUR PARTNERS IN SINGAPORE AND ACROSS THE GLOBE Phase 1 of the Second National Climate Change Study was completed in April 2015. The study was commissioned by NEA in 2012 to find out how climate change would affect Singapore. The study was jointly undertaken by MSS and the United Kingdom’s Met Office Hadley Centre. The study provided climate projections for Singapore. The findings for Phase 1 of the Second Climate Change Study revealed that climate change would lead to a The findings were communicated to the public in April 2015. To reach out to the scientific community and the general public, both detailed scientific reports and temperature increase of 1.4°C to 4.6°C and a rise in sea level of up to 0.6 m for Singapore by year 2100. In early 2016, MSS released its inaugural Annual Climate Assessment Report. It provides weather and climate information, and a perspective on the historical and current climate of Singapore. The report also gives details on the climate trends of Singapore, including climatic features and weather events that affected Singapore in the previous year. the abridged version of the Stakeholder Report were made available on the Centre for Climate Research Singapore website at ccrs.weather.gov.sg.
