Inclusive Growth Programme Enhancement to Productivity and Innovation Credit Scheme supported 142 projects by 66 cleaning companies to the total funding value of $6.9 million. These projects largely involved automation or mechanisation of cleaning processes that result in an average increase in efficiency of 60%. Meanwhile, nine waste management companies have enjoyed funding for 11 projects to a total value of $430,000. These projects achieved approximately 60% improvement in process efficiency. This allows companies that invested in these two types of automation equipment to enjoy either tax benefits in the form of enhanced tax deductions or cash payout under the scheme. projects by cleaning companies to the total funding value of 142 66 $6.9 million 58 In the year, NEA worked with various stakeholders to test bed new cleaning equipment and technology to raise the efficiency and effectiveness of cleaning operations, to meet rising demand for cleaning services amidst a tight labour market. Test bedding of cleaning technology at schools One project entailed the test bedding of compact, lighter and quieter cleaning equipment in six schools. It involved NEA, the Ministry of Education (MOE), equipment suppliers and cleaning companies. The goal was to determine the suitability of the equipment in a school environment, as well as to facilitate cleaners to perform their work in an effective and efficient manner through the use of easy-to-operate equipment and machines. The result was encouraging; the project not only yielded improvements in productivity, it also garnered positive feedback from cleaners. NEA is now working with the MOE to adopt cleaning technology across all schools. NEA ANNUAL REPORT 2015 / 2016 NEA ANNUAL REPORT 2015 / 2016
