The video shows a single male living with his parents practising the 3Rs on a typical working day. The video is hosted on YouTube (www.youtube.com/ watch?v=zp-Uw7L0sTw), shared on NEA’s website Showing how it is done: the 3R YouTube video and 3R webpages COLLABORATING WITH OUR PARTNERS AND THE COMMUNITY and Facebook, and screened at community events organised by NEA and its partners. NEA also redesigned its 3R webpages. The new webpages are now more user-friendly and put the spotlight on each of the 3Rs. Check out the revamped pages at www.nea.gov.sg/3R. Energy saving tips were printed on posters and banners and put up at HDB void decks, hawker centres, appliance retail stores, schools and online. In addition, NEA published a resource guide to help new homeowners plan and design their homes to be energy efficient. The guides are distributed through renovation companies and at the SP Services Customer Service Centre. Since 2008, NEA has been encouraging public sector agencies to adopt the Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance (GESP) contracting model when undertaking building retrofit projects. Under the GESP contracting model, an accredited energy services company is engaged to conduct an energy audit of the facility, implement the proposed energy efficiency improvement measures, and guarantee the system performance and annual energy savings of the retrofitted equipment. The public sector is committed to take the lead in environmental sustainability. This is the impetus behind the Public Sector Taking the Lead in Environmental Sustainability (PSTLES) initiative that was introduced in 2006. In 2014, the PSTLES initiative was enhanced to spur agencies to put in place organisational processes to better manage resource use. With the new enhancements, each ministry must now appoint a sustainability manager, set sustainability targets for 2020, and develop a resource management plan to meet the targets set. Guaranteed energy savings performance contracting model Save Energy Save Money campaign Public sector taking a lead in environmental sustainability As of March 2016, 22 large building owners have called GESP contracts for their building retrofit works. On average, these building owners saved about 15.4% of their total electricity use. This is equivalent to savings of $6.7 million each year. NEA ANNUAL REPORT 2015 / 2016 NEA ANNUAL REPORT 2015 / 2016
