Zika

The Zika virus is transmitted by the female Aedes mosquito, similar to dengue. Mosquito prevention and control remains key to reducing the transmission of the Zika virus. Aligned to our dengue control approach, NEA will continue to work with stakeholders and the community to reduce mosquito breeding.

To help minimise Zika transmission in Singapore, it is critical that all of us as a community take immediate steps to prevent mosquito breeding. Premises owners should undertake vector control measures regularly, while residents should do the 5-step Mozzie Wipeout as the majority of mosquito breeding detected is found in homes.

Residents are encouraged to give their full cooperation to NEA officers to inspect their premises for mosquito breeding and to spray insecticide to kill any mosquitoes. For residents who are not at home when NEA officers knock on their doors, they are requested to call NEA at 1800-2255-632 to make an appointment for the inspection as soon as possible.
