They are an exciting confluence of economic, social & cultural capital which bring vibrancy & character to a place and to the population dwelling within. However, large cities also pose challenges to infrastructure development with unbridled population growth. Combine population growth with the increasing affluence of the middle-class in many societies and you get waste volume 'explosion' which could easily overwhelm municipal infrastructure and encroach on living spaces. Hence, it is of utmost urgency to manage all solid & municipal waste generated, properly & efficiently. Cities who fail to do this will lose out. Vasuki served at Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) for 30 years as DSWA’s only Chief Executive Officer until his retirement in 2006. DSWA is an independent body which has full control of solid waste management in the State of Delaware including licensing solid waste collection and disposal. N.C. is a well-recognized figure in Solid Waste Management and has won numerous Landfill Excellence and Public Education Awards. He was the President of The International Solid Waste Association 2004-2006, and the President of the Solid Waste Association of North America 1991-1992. N.C. is also an author of 70 technical papers and one Reference book. His professional memberships include Solid Waste Association of North America, National Society of Professional Engineers, Water Environment Federation, Society of American Military Engineers, Delaware Academy of Science, New York Academy of Science, Sigma Xi — The Scientific Research Society, Rotary Club, and the International Solid Waste Association. N.C. graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering in June of 1959 from University of Mysore in Mysore City, India. He obtained his Masters in Civil Engineering in June of 1963 from The University of Delaware.
