An Introduction to Eco-Packaging Design
By Eve Porcher,
Eco Packaging Design Consultant
4 April 2006
Increasingly, consumers, stakeholders and government bodies are driving companies to improve their environmental performance. For example, companies that wish to sell competitive products in Europe must comply with packaging regulations in place, so that their packaging waste can be taken back from the consumers for sustainable disposal. With these social and legislative pressure to go green, many companies have turned to product and process design to meet the demands. One common solution is Eco-Packaging Design.
Eco-Packaging Design has a vital role to play in producing packaging that is both fit for its purpose and yet be less environmentally damaging. Companies that have started to introduce elements of eco designinto their packaging, have usually achieved significant cost savings while reducing the impact on the environment. This has created win-win situation for businesses, consumers, and the environment.
This seminar will introduce the audience to the concept of Eco-Packaging and discuss the international trends and legislative requirement in some of the world's global markets. Case-studies and examples will also be shown to illustrate how packaging form and function can come together in an environmentally friendly way.
