SEI gets serious about staff attributes in Retreat
March 2007

SEI staff at the Retreat

‘Let’s be TAF@work!’ has been the mantra for SEI staff since we coined that phrase in a staff retreat two years ago. ‘TAF’ stands for TRIM and FIT (Team-spirited, Resourceful, Involved, Motivated, Focussed, Inspiring and Tenacious).

The mantra serves as a compass for SEI as it depicts how we aspire to conduct ourselves at all times – with customers, partners as well as with each other.

Presenting our TAF vision!

Last year’s SEI Staff Retreat expanded on the notion of being TAF as we took a day off from work to reflect on the attributes that SEI staff must have to achieve our shared vision. Amidst the natural settings of a country club, we crafted 21 statements that defined what it meant to be TAF@work. Centering on the TAF values, the statements include classic declarations such as “I shall respect team members’ opinion” and “I shall not be easily discouraged by setback”. More ambitious and challenging were “I shall be courteous to even unreasonable customers to project a good customer service image” and “I shall set a good example in self discipline”. At this retreat, SEI’s Balanced Score Card workplan was also communicated to everyone.
