SEI Shows Public Sector Training Institutions How to Make Learning “AP-PEEL-ING - 28 April 2009
The Public Sector Training Institution (PSTI) Network was initiated by the Civil Service College (CSC) in December 2008 to create a platform for training professionals in the public sector to interact and exchange views. With 22 training institutions as member organisations, the network provides excellent opportunities for sharing of good practices and lessons learnt.
SEI, which is a founding member of the network, was invited to conduct the inaugural best practices sharing session on 28 April 2009.

Over an afternoon, Ms Annie Tan, Head (Business Development and Marketing) gave member organisations a brief overview of Singapore's journey towards environmental sustainability and how SEI distilled this knowledge by developing a fun and interactive training programme, the Programme for Environmental Experiential Learning (PEEL). In addition to learning about the developmental processes and innovative thoughts behind PEEL, the audience was also treated to an actual PEEL experience to Semakau Island, complete with PEEL learning kits and the care of a PEEL guide.
The inaugural sharing session was well received by members of PSTI Network as they not only went back with greater appreciation and knowledge of Singapore's environmental management efforts but also new perspectives on creative learning design.

As Mr. Andrew Tan from the Social Service Training Institute aptly commented, "the inaugural sharing session captured the essence of Singapore's transformation and the field visit left me with an indelible impression. The entire session was relevant and beneficial and I'm also glad to have expanded my network of friends in the process!"
Dean and CEO of CSC Mr. Lionel Yeo expressed his gratitude to SEI, remarking that "the inaugural sharing sesson by SEI showcased its strong and innovative teaching pedogogy. Members of the Network benefited much from this session and are looking forward to more such exchanges to learn from each other."
The interactive and eventful session was certainly an appropriate kickstart to the string of activities ahead for the PSTI Network!
