Briefing on Environmental Protection and Management for Kunshan Officials
June 2007


Executive Engineer (PCD), Mr Tan Seng Huat giving a presentation on Singapore's environmental strategies

39 Kunshan city (昆山市) representatives comprising mainly Bureau Chief and County Director from the Jiangsu province (江苏省), China arrived at the Singapore Environment Institute on 05 June 2007 for a study visit on Environmental Protection and Management in Singapore.

The delegation was headed by Mr Zhang Xuechun, Chief of Kunshan City Organization Department (张雪纯, 市委组织部部长). For some 3 hours in SEI, the group was briefed in Mandarin on Singapore's environmental management and strategies, pollution control implementations and the country's experience in cleaning up the Singapore river.The study visit ended with a lively discussion between the delegation and a 3 member panel by Director (SEI) Mr Ong Eng Kian, Executive Engineer (PCD) Mr Tan Seng Huat , and delegation coordinator Mr Lim Leong Fatt from MTI.
