ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Mr Wong Teo Suan joined the Civil Service in 1970 for a 34-year career in weather forecasting and analysis. As the Deputy Director (Services) with the Meteorological Services Division of the National Environment Agency (NEA), Teo Suan was responsible for managing the main meteorological office in Singapore. He oversaw the weather forecasting and analysis function in support of aviation, shipping, military operations, and also the provision of weather services for mass media and general public.
Teo Suan had coordinated regional climate, forest fires and smoke haze monitoring in the ASEAN region, in support of the ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre's regional haze monitoring. He had also participated extensively in regional meetings on smoke haze and trans-boundary haze pollution as Singapore’s representative. Teo Suan retired from his portfolio with the NEA in 2004.
