INTRODUCTION
This 2.5-day advanced course provides a comprehensive coverage of aspects of pool operations, maintenance and management of swimming pools. It will also briefly discuss health risks and maintenance of spa pools.
Participants will learn about the legislation and code of practice on swimming pools from the Environmental Public Health Act (EPHA) and an appreciation of swimming pool design and construction considerations. They will also learn about the public health importance of disinfection, dosing and water balancing in pool water treatment, trouble-shooting pool operational issues and maintenance of common pool equipment. Case-studies on chemical safety will also be discussed to address doubts that pool personnel and operators may have on chemical handling.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to understand and appreciate the design and construction considerations, maintenance and management of pools to be competent in supervising and/or carrying out daily operational activities within the legislative framework.

- Classroom-based Teaching with 1 Practical and 1 Site Visit to an assigned Swimming Complex
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Construction Contractors, Pool Owners, Pool Managers/Executives, Plant Operators, Facilities/Building Managers/Executives, Pool Maintenance Personnel, and anyone who wishes to learn more about pool design and construction considerations, maintenance and operations.
ACCREDITATION
This course is accredited under the Professional Engineers Board's Continuing Professional Development Programme for Engineers in Singapore. Participants will gain 17 PDU units upon completion of the course. Course participants must complete this course with at least 75% attendance rate.

This course is accredited under the Registered Safety Officer's Continuing Professional Development Programme. Participants will gain 15 SDUs upon completion of the course. Course participants must complete this course with at least 75% attendance rate.
