The AtKisson Accelerator Workshop on Environmental Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility

INTRODUCTION

Business activities are responsible, directly or indirectly, for most human impacts on the earth's ecosystems - and business operations today are conducted with too little thought as to their sustainability. The term "sustainability," which has both ecological and social components, poses business an inescapable challenge: without sustainability there will soon be no more profits.

With the ever increasing complexity of doing business or running an organisation in today’s globalised world, it vital that companies and organisations have the tools to help them reduce uncertainty in their decision-making and to successfully respond to changing conditions.  Doing Sustainability can improve the management of your business and/or organisation in three fundamental ways; by helping you to protect it, run it and grow it.

OBJECTIVE

Through the workshop’s presentation and interactive exercises, participants will

  • have greater understanding of the business case for CSR and Environmental Sustainability and how the private sector is employing approaches to both lower business costs, increase overall profit and decrease adverse effects on the society and the environment.

  • have a hands-on experience using the AtKisson Accelerator toolkit in developing, implementing and assessing CSR and Sustainability programmes in a company or organization.

  • gain insight into systems thinking,  innovation diffusion and organisation change strategy.

  • explore what are elements of good CSR/Sustainability reporting.
