INTRODUCTION
Nuisance odour ranks highly among public complaints on the quality of our air. Municipal facilities like sewers, wastewater plants, refuse collection trucks, farming and agricultural industries are often a source of odour complaints. Plant managers, consultants, suppliers of odour control systems and the public are often unable to understand and agree on how odours are released to the atmosphere and how they can be controlled.
This 1-day odour workshop aims to introduce participants to critical principles relating to the management of odorous emissions from industries. The fundamentals of odour sampling and measurement including the principles of dynamic olfactometry will be discussed. Different odour abatement technologies and their practical application to the control and treatment of odorous emission will be discussed. Some case studies largely from the wastewater industry will be presented.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to understand the measurement and control of odour.
