INTRODUCTION
With the recent developments in the field of occupational health and safety, such as the amendments of the Fire Safety regulations in February
2005, the announcement of the new Workplace Safety and Health Act on 1 March 2006,
as well as the international conventions that Singapore participates in on environmental issues, there is a need for a refresher programme to keep those who are involved in the management of hazardous substances abreast of these changes for professional development and compliance with the new regulations.
This 1.5-day course serves to update participants with the latest developments in regulations and competency skills sets in the management of hazardous substances in Singapore. Case-studies will be discussed in the course to provide real-life examples of incident investigation and analysis to enhance the pragmatic aspect of the programme for practitioners.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to understand the amendments and changes to the regulations impacting management of hazardous substances in Singapore and be competent in supervising and/or carrying out daily operational activities.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
- Personnel who have attended the 4-day Management of Hazardous Substances course with SEI before March 2005 and wish to update themselves with the latest developments
- OSH personnel, safety officers, consultants and professionals who are involved in management of hazardous substances but do not intend to apply for the Hazardous Substances Licence. (If there is intention to apply for this licence, please attend the full 4-day MHS programme.)
ACCREDITATION
This course is accredited under the Professional Engineers Board's Continuing Professional Development Programme for Engineers in Singapore. Participants will gain 10 PDUs upon completion of the course. Course participants must complete this course with at least 75% attendance rate.
This course is accredited under the Registered Safety Officer's Continuing Professional Development Programme. Participants will gain 10 SDUs upon completion of the course. Course participants must complete this course with at least 75% attendance rate.
