INTRODUCTION
This 3.5-day course serves to share knowledge with participants on the legislation and tools in the management of hazardous substances in Singapore and the workplace. Case-studies will be discussed in the course to provide real-life examples to enhance the pragmatic aspect of the programme for practitioners. On the successful completion of this course and passing the prescribed examination, a certificate jointly awarded by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Singapore Environment Institute (SEI) will be issued.
Under the Environmental Protection and Management Act (EPMA), any person who wishes to import, sell or export any hazardous substance controlled must obtain a Hazardous Substances Licence from the National Environment Agency. A licence will be issued to a person if:
- he could show proof that the Hazardous Substances will be stored safely in an approved location and in compliance with the storage requirements.
- the use of the Hazardous Substances at his factory has been approved.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to apply their knowledge learnt for the safe handling and management of toxic, flammable and other hazardous substances to be competent in supervising and/or carrying out daily operational activities.

- OSH personnel, safety officers, consultants and professionals who are involved in management of hazardous substances
ACCREDITATION
This course is accredited under the Professional Engineers Board's Continuing Professional Development Programme for Engineers in Singapore. Participants will gain 24 PDU units upon completion of the course. Course participants must complete this course with at least 75% attendance rate.
This course is accredited under the Registered Safety Officer's Continuing Professional Development Programme. Participants will gain 23 SDUs upon completion of the course. Course participants must complete this course with at least 75% attendance rate.
