COURSE OBJECTIVES
To train construction site supervisor on the environmental health control work. The primary aim of the ECO scheme is for the contractors to take a more pro-active role to ensure that construction sites are kept free of environmental health problems.

PRE-REQUISITES:
For course application:

As the Environmental Control Officer (ECO) course is conducted in English, all applicants are required to have a good working knowledge of the language.

Attending and passing the ECO course will not automatically lead to the successful registration of ECO with NEA.
For registration as an ECO:
A person may be registered as an ECO if he has successfully completed a training course for ECOs conducted by the National Environment Agency AND:
(a) had obtained:
-
a degree from the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University or other universities or institutions of higher learning which is acceptable to the Commissioner; or
-
a diploma from the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University or other universities or institutions of higher learning which is relevant to the work to be performed by the ECO AND has at least one year of working experience in environmental engineering, pest control estate management, environmental health or other work which is relevant to the work of the ECO; or
-
a technician diploma from a local polytechnic or other educational institutions AND has at least two years of working experience in environmental engineering, pest control estate management, environmental health or other work which is relevant to the work of the ECO.

ACCREDITATION
This course is accredited under the Registered Safety Officer's Continuing Professional Development Programme. Participants will gain 40 SDUs upon completion of the course. Course participants must complete this course with at least 75% attendance rate.
