At NEA, we are passionate about keeping Singapore one of the world’s best living environments. If you share our passion, join us and embark on a fruitful, rewarding career. Don’t take our word for it – here is what some of our officers have to say:

Working with the community for the environment

When Yi Zhen graduated with a Bachelor of Biological Sciences, she knew she wanted to work in a field related to the environment that allowed her to “run around”, instead of being desk-bound. She joined NEA in 2008 and has not looked back ever since. Yi Zhen’s work involves working with various stakeholders in educating the community on environmental initiatives. She believes sincerity is the key to forming good working relationships with her partners to achieve the best results.

I believe that through continuous public education and setting a good example, we can gradually influence individuals to spare a thought for the environment.

Working on Singapore’s iconic hawker centres

When Leslie first joined NEA in 2009, he excitedly embarked on a new career working on improving Singapore’s iconic hawker centres. Leslie monitors and regulates the standards of cleanliness, and manages the tenancy agreements of the hawker centres. He enjoys the dynamism of his work environment, and shares that a positive and can-do attitude has helped him excel at his work in NEA.

Working to achieve a Zero Waste Singapore

Samuel holds a Master in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and a Bachelor in Engineering Science from NUS.  Despite having to live with a disability, he continued to show his enthusiasm for life and learning. In NEA, he had a myriad of suitable job opportunities that enabled him to contribute meaningfully together with supportive colleagues. He first joined NEA in 2015 as an Engineer in the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Department, where his work involved working in partnership with energy-intensive companies and industry associations to help companies develop and implement plans to improve energy efficiency, as well as comply with statutory energy management requirements.

Samuel is currently with the Waste & Resource Management Department handling the review of long-term land and infrastructure planning for waste management, and development of initiatives under the integrated solid waste masterplan. Despite working behind the scenes, he is delighted that his work makes a positive impact toward a Zero Waste Singapore. Samuel’s career in NEA exemplifies that persons with disabilities can engage in meaningful work without being disadvantaged.
